What is a framework crosswalk?
A framework crosswalk maps the requirements of one compliance framework to another, so work done for one can count toward others. Here is how to do it without over-claiming coverage.
A framework crosswalk (or control mapping) links the requirements of one compliance framework to equivalent or overlapping requirements in others, for example ISO 27001 Annex A controls to SOC 2 criteria and NIST CSF subcategories. It lets one control and its evidence count toward several frameworks. Good crosswalks distinguish exact matches from partial ones, so coverage is not over-claimed.

Exact, partial, and inferred
Frameworks rarely line up one-to-one. One control may fully satisfy one requirement and only partly satisfy another. Recording mappings as exact, partial, or inferred, with weights and sources, keeps reported coverage honest: a partial mapping shows what remains to be done instead of implying full compliance.
Choosing an anchor
Many programs pick one framework as the anchor, whether a harmonized framework such as SCF or UCF, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, or an internal standard, and map everything else to it.
When this becomes a buying decision
If a vendor shows a coverage percentage without partials, they are selling a crosswalk you cannot take to an auditor. Honest maps are the product.
